I just learned from Norma Byrd Darnell, Class of '58, that our classmate Carol Christmas Smith passed away on May 12. 

"Carol Christmas Smith, 82, of Princeton, died Friday, May 12, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born August 30, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Walter Christmas and Gloria Watson. Carol Smith was a devoted wife, loving mother, and homemaker. She was member of Green Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by stepfather Gene Watson, brother Tim Watson, Sister-in-Law Kathy Watson. She is survived by her husband Russell Smith, Children Bobby Bryan and wife Marie, Suzanne Dennison, Darlene Aspinwall, David Bryan and wife Alexsandra, Stepchildren Jeffrey Smith, April Szweda and husband Bob, Cindy Szweda and husband Larry and Lynn O’Neal and husband Gary."
