I had no idea Doug had passed away. He coached us when we had the 1960 buttons and bows football team. He taught me how to stiff arm and of course I used that tactic prior to scoring and was ashamed I cut someone on the face with a fingernail. Ugh. He was a fun loving guy with a bright easy smile and a tough football player. A very nice person.

Doug was probably the most beloved member of the so-called Magnificent Seven, highlighted in Ron Stock's great book, Reconnected. I really miss him.

I believe Doug also served in the U.S. Army as an officer and optometrist so he should probably have his profile reflect his service.

He is sorely missed.

"Crazy" Parker was one of my closest friends.  I get teary-eyed just thinking of him and the fun times we shared together. Doug was a character in my novel Reconnecting and could have filled the entire book with stories about him.  Crazy Parker is one reason what made duPont so special for me.
